On September 6, 1967, Chad L. Coleman was born in the United States. Perhaps his most well-known roles include those of Dennis “Cutty” Wise on the HBO series “The Wire”, Tyreese on the AMC series “The Walking Dead”, Mingo on “Roots”, Z on the FX sitcom “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, Fred Johnson on “The Expanse”, and Klyden on “The Orville.” He performed as Coach in the video game Left 4 Dead 2.
Richmond, Virginia, is where Coleman was born. He was reared by a grandmother on Richmond’s south side after being taken from his abusive parents at the Fairfield Court public housing project (one account claims Creighton Court).
He used to compete in track and field, but a leg injury caused him to focus on drama instead. After enrolling in Virginia Commonwealth University on a scholarship for his first year, he left school to join the American Army. He served in the military from 1985 to 1989, working as a video cameraman.
