The Council of Ewe Associations of North America (CEANA) has stepped in to provide much-needed support to the Peki-Dzake Evangelical Presbyterian Junior High School in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region.
A 3-unit classroom block was donated to the school to enhance its infrastructure and provide a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
The initiative was born out of the destruction caused by a rainstorm to the dilapidated structure housing the Peki Dzake E.P JHS. Citizens of Peki in the diaspora led a fundraising campaign and lobbied CEANA to support the construction of the classroom block. In a generous display of philanthropy, CEANA sponsored the project and handed it over to the school authorities upon completion.
Dr. Tsatsu Nyamadi, the president of CEANA, emphasized the organization’s commitment to undertaking development projects in deprived communities, particularly in the areas of health and education. He urged the community to take ownership of the classroom block and uphold a maintenance culture to ensure its longevity.
Furthermore, the South Dayi District Chief Executive, Godwin Dadzawa, commended CEANA for their initiative in restoring the educational infrastructure of the Peki Traditional Area. He reiterated his commitment to raising the standard of education in the district and pledged to construct a teachers’ bungalow for the Peki-Dzake E.P Basic School.
In his address to the pupils, Dr. Tsatsu Nyamadi encouraged them to prioritize their education, as it is key to their future success and contribution to the development of the country. He emphasized the importance of learning and excelling in their studies to become the future leaders that Ghana needs.
The collaboration between CEANA and the local authorities demonstrates the power of community-led initiatives and partnerships in driving positive change and development in underprivileged areas.
