Catherine Cyran, a producer, writer, and director nominated for an Emmy who started her career working for Roger Corman, passed away on December 24, 2022 in Vancouver, British Columbia, after a fight with cancer. She had a 59-year-old age.

Before making a name for herself as a filmmaker in the 1990s, Cyran made a name for herself as a screenwriter, earning credits on movies including 1990’s “Slumber Party Massacre III” and “A Cry in the Wild,” the movie version of Gary Paulsen’s book “Hatchet,” which was released the same year. The 1993 follow-up “White Wolves: A Cry in the Wild II,” for which she received an Emmy nomination, marked her directorial debut in a feature film.

Along with writing for Universal films like “Werewolf” and “The Beast Among Us,” Cyran also created the martial arts television series “Bloodfist.” Other significant directing credits include “Victoria Gotti: My Father’s Daughter,” “True Heart,” and three of the four “The Prince & Me” films.
