The Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council Member, Randy Abbey, has announced that the association will continue to utilize Catch Them Young referees in their Youth Championships.

The ongoing KGL U17 Regional Championship and the newly introduced Elite U15 Academy Competition are the platforms through which the GFA aims to develop these young referees.

Speaking at the launch of the 4th Edition of the 2024 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, Abbey highlighted the KGL Foundation’s significant role in youth development over the past four years on behalf of the GFA president.

He emphasized the importance of nurturing young talents and mentioned that the Championships will be officiated by referees selected from the GFA’s Catch Them Young refereeing policy.

Abbey praised the Catch Them Young initiative, stating that it has groomed numerous ambitious referees who have gone on to officiate at the second tier level of Ghana football.

He expressed confidence that these young referees will excel during the championships. Thanks to the KGL Foundation’s sponsorship, each participating team will receive 50 footballs, two sets of cones, two sets of bibs, and two sets of match dresses.

The GFA’s commitment to developing young referees and providing opportunities for their growth is evident in their continued use of the Catch Them Young referees in youth competitions.

With the support of the KGL Foundation, the association aims to create a conducive environment for the development of young talents in Ghanaian football.
