Carrie Johnson studied Theatre Studies and History of Art at Warwick University and initially intended to pursue a career in acting before her marriage to Boris Johnson.

Her first job in politics, she claims, was working for Zac Goldsmith, the MP for Richmond Park and North Kingston, and she adds she’s “not sure I’d have worked for the Conservatives if it hadn’t been for him.”
She joined the Conservative Party as a press officer in 2010, and two years later worked on Mr. Johnson’s successful re-election campaign for mayor of London.
Later, she worked for then-Culture Secretary John Whittingdale before becoming a media special assistant for Sajid Javid at the Department for Communities and Local Government.
