Carmen Sevilla was a Spanish actress, singer, and dancer. She was born on October 16, 1930, in Seville, Spain, and named Maria del Carmen Garcia Galisteo. She began her career in the 1940s and became one of the most popular and highest-paid stars of Spanish cinema until the 1970s.
Carmen made her first film debut in 1946 with the documentary Hombres Ibéricos and with a supporting role in Serenata espanola in 1947. In the same year, she participated in the Miss Spain contest and had her first leading film role in 1948’s Jalisco Sings in Seville.
Carmen Sevilla was married to composer and conductor Augusto Alguero, whom she met in 1956 during the filming of The Taming of the Shrew, on 23 February 1961 in the Zaragoza’s Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. They had a son called Augusto Jose who was born in 1964.

Carmen was the oldest child of three siblings to composers Antonio Garcia Padilla and Florentina Galisteo Ramirez. Her mother Florentina Galisteo Ramirez was born on 10 October 1904, and she lived up to almost 100. She died on 23 July 2004 in Madrid, Spain.
