Carmen Sevilla grandparent: Meet José García Rufino

On October 16, 1930, Carmen Sevilla, also known as Mara del Carmen Garcia Galisteo, was born in Seville, Spain. She was a former Spanish actress, singer, and dancer.

After starting her career there in the 1940s, Carmen rose to popularity in Spanish cinema, earning some of the highest salaries up to the 1970s. She started a career as a television host when she was sixty years old, working for the three main Spanish networks until she retired in 2010.

In 1946, Sevilla made her cinematic debut in Serenata espaola and the documentary Hombres Ibéricos. She took part in the Miss Spain pageant that year. In the 1948 motion picture Jalisco Sings in Seville, she played in her first leading role.

With her leading role opposite Tony Leblanc in The Troublemaker (1950), Carmen made a breakthrough. Later, she became well-known and a star in Spanish movies.

At the age of sixty, Carmen began her career as a television host, appearing on a variety of shows and specials for the three major Spanish networks until her retirement in 2010.

Through Antonio Garcia Padilla, José Garcia Rufino’s son, Carmen Sevilla is his granddaughter. The other two grandkids of José Garcia Galisteo were Antonio and José. José penned the lyrics for the films Concha Piquer and Imperio Argentina.
