Carl Wade Stiner was a four-star general in the United States Army who died on jUNE 2, 2022.
Stiner was involved in the apprehension of terrorists in the Achille Lauro hijacking and assisted with all special operations efforts during Operation Desert Storm, according to the office.
Rep. Chuck Fleischmann addressed Stiner’s death on Twitter, saying he was sorry to hear the news.
He served as Commander in Chief of the United States Special Operations Command from 1990 to 1993.
Stiner also collaborated with Tom Clancy on the 2002 novel Shadow Warriors: Inside the Special Forces.
He also received the Freedom Foundation Award and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from his alma institution, Tennessee Tech University.
The Army ROTC offices at the institution were renamed the Carl W. Stiner Leadership Center in his honor.
Stiner died at age 85.

Funeral services for Gen. Stiner will be held on Saturday, June 11 at the First Baptist Church in LaFollette.
