Former Northern Colorado baseball coach, and player Carl Iwasaki has passed away. He was an American baseball coach and catcher. He played college baseball at Northern Colorado for coach Tom Petroff from 1981 to 1984. He then served as the head of the Austin Kangaroos from 2005 to 2010 and the Northern Colorado Bears from 2011 to 2022.

Carl Iwasaki died on Wednesday evening, February 7, 2024, at the age of 62, according to a post on his Instagram page by his wife, Shelley. The post said Iwasaki was an organ donor and his last act was donating his liver to save a life. No cause of death was included in the post.
“Such a Carl thing to do,” the message read. “We are grateful for all the love and prayers that have been sent Carl’s way. Carl was truly a one of a kind, and I hope today you think of him and smile and know he truly lived a wonderful life.”
