Square, a Valley-based firm that is redefining payments, is led by Jack Dorsey, its founder and CEO.
Many expected Square Inc., which is presently valued at $5 billion, to file for an IPO this year, but with the market cooling, it is expected to be delayed.
Twitter Inc., the other firm he co-founded, went public last year and is now valued at over $21 billion. Dorsey is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Twitter and is credited with coming up with the concept.
Dorsey’s first sketch of Twitter, dated March 2006, is displayed on Twitter’s corporate history page as the firm’s earliest “memorable moment.”
Can Jack Dorsey code?
Yes! He does, and he continues to code.
How did Jack Dorsey learn how to program?
Dorsey had a speech impediment as a young guy growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, and avoided interacting.
He learned to program on his own and became interested in dispatch systems. Dorsey had written his first dispatch routing software when he was thirteen years old.
Simultaneously, he joined the debate team, intent on eradicating his speech’s defects. His will to improve oneself was clear when he was a child.
He then transferred to New York University after attending Missouri College of Science and Technology.
