On November 18, Christina sang her Spanish song Pa Mis Muchachas ft. Becky G, Nicki Nicole, and Nathy Peluso at the Latin Grammy Awards 2021.
She displayed her vocal prowess with her most recent release, Somos Nada, prior to the girl-power stage.
It has been 22 years since the singer’s debut Latin album, Mi Reflejo, and in 2022, she will drop her second Spanish album.
Can Aguilera speak Spanish?
The 40-year-old has admitted that she has faced criticism because she does not appear “stereotypically Latina.” She grew raised speaking the language but no longer does.
Her decision to record a Spanish album in 2000, on the other hand, suggests she was keen to learn more about her culture – she is half Irish and half Ecuadorean.
“I should not have to prove my ethnicity to anyone. I know who I am,” she stated.
Half-Irish, half-Ecuadorian Aguilera has been upfront about her limited Spanish language skills while yet being proud of her Latin heritage. She admitted “I’ve dealt with that criticism my whole life,”. I don’t speak the language fluently”.
