The unexpected death of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, with fears of potential repercussions on Britain’s streets. Ex-Defence Secretary Sir Liam Fox has raised concerns about the potential unleashing of greater fury by Iran’s “thugocracy” against Western allies following Raisi’s demise.

Raisi, also known as the Butcher of Tehran for his involvement in mass executions of political prisoners, was seen as a possible successor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. His death, along with seven others in the helicopter crash, has left a power vacuum in Iran and raised questions about the future leadership of the country.

Speaking on The Sun’s show Never Mind The Ballots, Sir Liam Fox criticized the Foreign Office for not taking a tougher stance against Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and for considering a condolences message for Raisi. He described Raisi as one of the most evil figures in the region and warned of increased oppression in Iran as the regime tries to maintain control.

Sir Liam also called for the Revolutionary Guard to be classified as a terrorist organization, citing their involvement in repression and human rights abuses. He questioned the presence of Iranian entities operating in the UK, including Iran Air at Heathrow Airport and Iranian banks in the City of London.

The death of President Raisi has raised concerns about the future of Iran and its relations with Western countries, including the UK. With the potential for increased oppression and aggression from the Iranian regime, the international community must remain vigilant and consider the implications of Iran’s leadership transition.
