Burna Boy made history by becoming the first Afro-fusion performer to grace the esteemed Grammy stage in 2024.

Burna Boy has distinguished himself within the genre by referring to his music as Afro-fusion, even though he is primarily associated with Afrobeats. Burna Boy honored his Nigerian roots with a performance that featured spirited dancers and a green-clad supporting band. Burna Boy looked confident and proud in his red outfit.

Rapper 21 Savage and R&B legend Brandy made surprise appearances during Burna Boy’s thrilling performance, which featured smooth transitions between favorites like “City Boys” and “Sittin’ On Top of the World.”

The performance was enhanced by the ferocious verse of 21 Savage, who made his Grammy debut, and the velvety voice of Brandy. Beyond his appearance, Burna Boy will be well-represented at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

He is the front-runner for African musicians with four nominations, including Best Global Music Album and Best African Music appearance for his critically praised album “I Told Them” and its popular track “City Boys.” Unfortunately, Burna did not win any of the four nominations.
