Mason Marchment is a Canadian professional ice hockey player with the National Hockey League’s Florida Panthers.
His father’s death was verified by longtime agent Rick Curran to The Associated Press. Marchment was in Montreal for the NHL draft as a scout for the San Jose Sharks. The reason for death was not immediately known.
Marchment spent parts of 17 NHL seasons with Winnipeg, Chicago, Hartford, Edmonton, Tampa Bay, San Jose, Colorado, Toronto, and Calgary between 1989 and 2006.
Since 2007, the Toronto native has worked in scouting and various capacities with the Sharks and their American Hockey League affiliate.
Marchment made a name for himself with a breakout season in 2021-22, scoring 18 goals and contributing 29 assists in 54 games. His advanced statistics are also remarkable, with an HDCF of 63.1 percent and an xG percent of 63.41 percent.
