Authorities have identified Bryan Kohberger, a graduate student in criminology at Washington State University, as the person they believe to be responsible for the stabbing deaths of four students from the University of Idaho who were found dead in Moscow, Idaho, on November 13, 2022.
The authorities confirmed this information during a news conference. According to the court documents, Kohberger, who is 28 years old, was arrested on December 30 in Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
According to the public documents kept by the court in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, the accused individual’s full name is Bryan Christopher Kohberger. WPVI reports that law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Moscow Police Department, “tracked” Kohberger and found him in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, in the Pocono Mountains region of Pennsylvania. According to the news station, Kohberger has been issued a warrant charging him with first-degree murder.
In the early morning hours of Friday, Kohberger made a brief appearance in a court in Monroe County. According to the documents, he was ordered to be detained without the possibility of posting bail, and he is scheduled to be extradited at a hearing on January 3.
