Bruno Segre was born on September 4, 1918, in Turin, and he earned his law degree in 1940. On the other hand, racial laws prevented him from practicing law because he was a Jewish man.

Sami Modiano and Liliana Segre are the newest Orvieto residents on this Day for Holocaust Remembrance. In 1944, he was again imprisoned at the headquarters of the National Republican Guard’s political investigation office in the Asti Street barracks in Turin.

He had been caught in 1942 and held for many months in Turin’s New Prison. Furthermore, from 1975 until 1980, he headed the Turin branch of the Socialist Party while holding the position of municipal councilor.

He was an anti-fascist icon who fought for civil rights in numerous political and judicial conflicts. He also supported the divorce law and even hired a plane to drop thousands of propaganda flyers over the city.
