Brian Philip Babin is a Republican Party politician and dentist. Since 2015, he has served as the United States Representative for Texas’s 36th congressional district.
Much of southeastern Houston and some of its eastern suburbs, as well as Orange and some exurban areas to the east, are included in the district. From 1975 to 1979, Babin served in the United States Air Force before opening a dental practice south of Lufkin.

Babin currently resides in Woodville, Texas with his family. The prominent politician has been in general dentistry in Woodville since 1979.
He first entered politics in 1980, when he worked for Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign. He is credited with helping to shift Deep East Texas from Democratic to Republican control over the years.
Babin was appointed to the Lower Neches Valley Authority by Governor Bush in 1999, and Governor Rick Perry reappointed him in 2013.
He was embroiled in a campaign finance scandal involving $37,000 in illegal donations from businessman Peter Cloeren that were routed through “vehicles” to avoid contribution limits.
