Actor, dramatist, and director Brendan Cowell is an Australian.
He received praise for his performance in the title role of Hamlet in Bell Shakespeare’s 2008 production of the play. In 2010, he appeared in Philip Seymour Hoffman’s production of True West at Sydney Theatre Company.
Cowell portrayed the mysterious Tom on the Australian cable television show Love My Way, for which he also wrote numerous episodes, and he portrayed Todd on the SBS TV series Life Support for its first two seasons, for which he also wrote sketches.
In Season 7 of the HBO series Game of Thrones in 2017, Cowell joins the cast as Harrag, an Ironborn sea captain who is aligned with Theon Greyjoy.

Along with a number of other honors, Cowell received the Patrick White Playwrights’ Award for his third play, Bed. In 2009, his play Ruben Guthrie played to packed houses at the Belvoir St Theatre. 2011 saw a brand-new production of it at La Boite Theatre, under the direction of David Berthold and starring Gyton Grantley.
