The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his delegation that travelled to the United States have escaped an imminent disaster involving the Presidential jet, reports say.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred when one of the jet’s engines went off 30 minutes after takeoff from Washington to Ghana.

According to Citi News, the aircraft had to run around for a couple of times to burn fuel before being assisted to land. However, arrangements are being made for the President and his entourage to return to Ghana on a commercial flight.

President Nana Addo was at the UN on Wednesday, September 26 2018 to address the 73rd UN General Assembly. In his speech, the President highlighted the inroads China was making in Africa, the need for the UN to undergo reforms and the grand vision of Africa beyond Aid. He also touched on the recent passing of former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan.
