Harvey Louis Carignan was an American serial killer who was sentenced to a life sentence at the Minnesota Correctional Facility – Faribault for the murders of two women.
He had been previously convicted for a 1949 rape and murder he committed while stationed in the U.S. Army, in Anchorage, Alaska.

Carignan was taken into custody on September 24, 1974. He was accused of aggravated sodomy and attempted murder. Carignan pled insanity, stating God had directed him to “murder whores and harlots”. His defense subsequently failed, and he was found guilty of both charges in 1975.
Carignan underwent a mental evaluation following his conviction and was diagnosed with an antisocial personality disorder. He was convicted guilty of indecent liberties, sodomy on a juvenile, and two further counts of aggravated sodomy months later. Carignan received a total term of 60 years in jail.
He was later charged with murder for the deaths of Schultz and Hunley. Carignan pled guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Schultz and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. He was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Hunley and received a life sentence.
