A Brazilian soap opera actor who disappeared in January has been found dead in a trunk in Rio de Janeiro.
His body was discovered tied up and placed inside a wooden trunk that had been buried under the concrete floor of an outhouse in Rio de Janeiro’s Campo Grande neighborhood. Police confirmed his identity through fingerprints.
The property where Machado’s body was found belonged to a woman who had rented out the outhouse to an unidentified man, who is considered a suspect in the case.
Machado was believed to have known the person who rented the property and was seen entering it a month prior to his disappearance.
It took a team of individuals, including Civil Police agents, to remove the trunk from its burial site. According to a family lawyer, the trunk had previously been taken from Machado’s home.
Friends and family expressed their grief and outrage over Machado’s death, with a family friend writing on his Instagram account that he was “coldly and brutally murdered by envious, evil, and unscrupulous people.”
Machado’s most recent acting role was in the 2022 soap opera “Reis” on Record TV. He had been missing since January 27 and was officially declared missing on February 9.
The investigation into his death is ongoing, and authorities are working to apprehend the suspect involved.
