Early Life and College Career
Brandon Jones was born on April 2, 1998, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He grew up in Nacogdoches and attended Nacogdoches High School, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was a three-time all-state selection in football and was also named the state’s defensive player of the year as a senior.
Jones committed to play college football at the University of Texas over offers from Alabama, Arkansas, and LSU. He played in all 13 games as a true freshman in 2017, starting two games at safety. He made 43 tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble.
As a sophomore in 2018, Jones started all 14 games at safety and made 92 tackles, one interception, and three forced fumbles. He was named second-team All-Big 12.
In 2019, Jones started all 12 games at safety and made 72 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. He was named first-team All-Big 12.

Jones was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round (70th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He signed his rookie contract with the Dolphins on July 21, 2020.
Jones started all 16 games at safety for the Dolphins in 2020. He made 70 tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble. He was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team.
In 2021, Jones started all 17 games at safety for the Dolphins. He made 101 tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble. He was named second-team All-Pro.
