Police have reported that they have found the body of a teenage boy who died after swimming with companions in Salford Quays.
At around 18:15 BST on Saturday, police reported that the 16-year-old victim “was spotted struggling in the water.”
According to Greater Manchester Police, “no suspicious circumstances” existed.
It was “a terrible reminder of the hazards of approaching open water, whatever of the weather,” Det Insp Joanne Johnston continued.
“Yesterday evening’s events are nothing short of devastating and my thoughts are with the friends and family of the young boy who lost his life in such awful circumstances,” she said.
