Borna Barišić is a left-back who plays for the Scottish Premiership team Rangers as well as the Croatian national team. His name is [bôrna briit] in Croatian. Prior to joining Osijek, Barii participated in the Prva HNL.
In the eastern Croatian city of Osijek, Barii was born to Bosnian and Croat parents. His father Stipe “Moljac” Barišić is from Galei, while his mother Verica (née Toki) is from Strabenica. He started going to the Osijek youth academy in 2003 and stayed there for eight years. After being cut from the first team, Barišić transferred to the nearby BSK Bijelo Brdo.
Barišić returned to Osijek after leaving Bijelo Brdo after one season. Barišić made his debut on July 12, 2013, in a 3-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb, and went on to make 23 Prva HNL matches in his maiden season with the first group.
Barišić’s game-winning goal for Osijek against Lokomotiva on April 4, 2014, came in the 88th minute. Osijek finished the 2013–14 season in seventh position overall. Barišić played in 28 games for Osijek the following season as they just avoided relegation, contributing one goal and two assists from the left defense position.
