Mercado was born in New York and grew up in the city, however, she relocated to the state of California to launch her professional acting career after she developed a passion for acting during her teenage years.
She landed a role in the hit television series Boston Public and after her impressive performance, she was invited to audition for more roles. Her popularity shot through the roof after she played the lead role in the VH1 series Flavor of Love 2 which was released in 2006.
Her portrayal of the character Eyez in that series saw her ratings go up with many raving reviews.
