Bofoakwa Tano CEO, Alex Ababio, has raised concerns about the team’s potential participation in the upcoming FA Cup semifinal against Dreams FC.
The match, set to take place on May 12th at the Theatre of Dreams, may be in jeopardy if the organizing committee does not cover the expenses for their travel and accommodation.
Speaking to Akoma FM, Mr. Ababio emphasized the importance of the FA Cup committee providing funding for their journey from Sunyani to Sogakope for the crucial match. He stated, “The FA Cup committee must cover our expenses while traveling if they genuinely want us to compete in our FA Cup fixture against Dreams FC in Sogakope. Without their support, we will not be able to secure the necessary funding to make the trip from Sunyani to Sogakope.”
Ababio also expressed his disapproval of the choice of venue, Sogakope, suggesting that it gives an advantage to Dreams FC over Bofoakwa Tano. He cited previous incidents of bias against his team during matches held there, specifically mentioning their previous encounter with Dreams FC.
While acknowledging the support from the committee throughout the competition, Ababio believed that it was not sufficient. He asserted, “The main issue is whether they are willing to cover our expenses, then we can proceed. If not, I am unsure if we will be able to fulfill the match. Despite some financial assistance, it is still inadequate.”
As the FA Cup semifinal approaches, the uncertainty surrounding Bofoakwa Tano’s participation raises questions about the fairness and support provided to all teams involved in the competition.
