Bob Brunning was a founding member of Fleetwood Mac and a five-decade fixture on the British blues scene is said to have passed on in 2011.

Brunning is said to have passed on October 18, a decade ago, at the age of 68, after suffering a massive heart attack at his Colliers Wood home.

The musical icon was a member of the band Savoy Brown and led his own bands for many years, frequently supporting visiting American musicians while working as a teacher during the day.

He grew up in Bournemouth, where he learned to play bass guitar. He was a member of several local bands, including one led by future Radio 1 disc jockey Tony Blackburn.

He moved to London in the early 60s to study education at the College of St Mark and St John  in Chelsea. There, he joined the college band Five’s Company, whose keyboardist was Steve Jones, who went on to become a radio presenter.
