Tributes have poured in for Bob Blizzard, who served as Waveney’s MP for over a decade and worked tirelessly in his constituents’ interests. Mr. Blizzard previously served as the leader of the Waveney District Council for six years after being elected to the authority in 1987. He died at age 71.

During his 13-year tenure in Westminster, he achieved notable successes such as opening the Tom Crisp Way relief road to relieve one of Lowestoft’s major traffic constraints and procuring funding for the Orbis Energy Centre.
Blizzard, who was born in Bury St Edmunds, was the MP for Waveney in Suffolk from 1997 until 2010. He began his political career as a councilor on Waveney District Council, where he served as the council’s leader for years.
He founded the Lowestoft Jazz Weekend and supported many other local projects as a jazz enthusiast. He was a supporter of Lowestoft Town Football Club and a director of the town’s Seagull Theatre.
At the moment his death cause is not known however from rumors he died in his residence probably from old age.
