Bill Murray is an American actor, comedian, and writer best known for his appearances on more than 70 episodes of Saturday Night Live.
He had previously starred in a few films, but his popularity on SNL led to a leading part in the 1979 comedy picture Meatballs.
He decided to act in the spooky comedy Ghostbusters in 1984 in order to bankroll his pet project, The Razor’s Edge, which he also co-wrote.
However, although the former went on to become the highest-grossing picture of the year, the latter was a flop that forced him to take a break.
He has since bounced back into stardom.
