On Boxing Day 2023, Bill Granger’s bereaved family made the tragic announcement that he had died in the hospital, with them at his side. Bill Granger reportedly died following a short battle with cancer. Granger became well-known as a chef thanks to his immensely popular restaurant Bills, which he founded in Sydney’s Darlinghurst in 1993.
He opened his first overseas accounts in Japan in 2008 and then in the UK and Korea after taking the business global. In addition, he authored twelve cookbooks that have sold over a million copies. 2020 saw the publication of his most recent book, Australian Food.
The Melbourne-born chef, who taught himself everything, left art school in 1993.
He opened his first bills in Darlinghurst in October of that year.
