Big Sea General Trading LLC, a company specializing in ambulance production, is set to have its Chief Executive Officer, Hamed Sardashti, testify via video link from Dubai in a controversial ambulance procurement trial in Ghana.
The CEO will clarify the case involving Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader of Parliament and former Deputy Minister of Finance, who signed the Letter of Credit for the initial batch of ambulances.
The company began shipping 200 ambulances to Ghana in 2014, starting with a batch of 10. In 2015, three key officials from the Ministry of Health visited the production facility in Dubai to address concerns raised in a post-delivery inspection report about the ambulances’ features, with the aim of meeting Ghana’s standards for smoother operation.
Dr. Forson and Richard Jakpa, the agent of Big Sea General Trading LLC, are currently on trial for allegedly causing financial loss to the state and misapplying state property. The testimony of Mr. Sardashti is expected to shed light on the case and provide clarity on the procurement deal.
The trial has garnered significant attention, with the Ghana Armed Forces also being subpoenaed to testify. It is crucial to uncover the truth behind the allegations and ensure accountability in public procurement practices. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
