Following the passing of Bertha Barbee McNeal at the age of 82, Motown lovers are lamenting the loss of one of the greats.
The vocalist, who was best known for being a member of The Velvelettes, passed away on Thursday in Kalamazoo, Michigan (December 15).
Following their death, McNeal’s bandmates have paid respect.
The group’s final concert as a unit took place in Kalamazoo in July. Cal Gill Street, the band’s lead singer, informed the Detroit Press that she had lost her “dearest friend” and referred to her beloved “Bertie” as a “wonderful lady.”
