Bernard Toone was a basketball player from Yonkers, New York.

Toone attended Marquette University, where he was a sophomore reserve for the Warriors’ 1977 National Championship team in Hall of Fame coach Al McGuire’s last season.

“When we won the title, it all paid off,” Toone told Milwaukee Journal writer Mary Schmitt in 1987. “It meant a lot to me because of the dispute I had with Al.”

In his final two years at MU, Toone’s output rose under head coach Hank Raymonds. As a senior in 1978-79, Toone took over as the team’s standout, averaging 18.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
