Robert Ben Lobban Wallace (born 15 May 1970) is a British politician and former soldier who has been the Secretary of State for Defence since July 24, 2019, and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wyre and Preston North, previously Lancaster and Wyre, since 2005.
He was a Conservative list Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for North East Scotland from 1999 to 2003 before becoming an MP. He resigned in 2003 and relocated to Lancashire in order to be considered for a Westminster constituency in England. Following his election as an MP and over five years as a backbencher, he was recruited as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Ken Clarke, Secretary of State for Justice, from 2010 to 2014.

Wallace splits his time between Lancashire and London. Outside of politics, he enjoys skiing, sailing, rugby, and horse racing. He belongs to the Third Guards club.
From July 2014 until May 2015, Wallace was a whip. Following the 2015 general election and the creation of Cameron’s majority administration, he was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
Theresa May named him Minister of State for Security and Economic Crime in 2016, a position he held until she left government in July 2019. Wallace, a Boris Johnson loyalist, was moved to the top cabinet position of Secretary of State for Defence once Johnson was elected Prime Minister. Liz Truss reappointed him to the position on September 6, 2022.
Prior to entering politics, he was a captain in the Scots Guards, a British Army unit.
