Beenie Man, a Jamaican dancehall legend, has been arrested in Ghana, West Africa.

Ghana’s National Security service personnel arrested the Jamaican singer a few days ago.

According to many Ghanaian media outlets, the Girls Dem Sugar crooner’s arrested was due to his Covid-19 status.

Beenie Man, whose real name is Anthony Moses Davis, reportedly tested positive when he arrived in Ghana for a show with Ghanaian afro-dancehall star Stonebwoy over the weekend.

But despite testing positive for Covid, he took the law into his own hands and embarked on a media tour and even performed at the concert dubbed ‘Bhim Concert’. The show was held at the Accra International Conference Centre on December 21, 2021.

Several reports suggest that he allegedly produced a fake clearance certificate from the Ghana Health Service, which has become a subject of investigations by Ghanaian security officials.

According to the Ghana Immigration Service, he has been released to the Ghana Health Service officials and his lawyers.

Ghana’s Covid-19 cases have seen a surge over the past few days. There are currently 4,027 active cases and 923 new cases. There are a total number of 135,278 confirmed cases and 1,271 deaths.
