Charles Kwablan Akonnor, the former coach of the Black Stars, has shared some advice for the two most popular clubs in Ghana, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. In an interview with Graphic Sports, Akonnor emphasized the importance of patience when it comes to dealing with coaches and their strategies.
“Patience is always a virtue, but these clubs are very focused on getting results quickly. If you hire a coach, you should already know what his plans are. And if the results don’t come immediately, give him some time,” Akonnor stated.
While he acknowledged that there are circumstances where a coach may need to be let go, Akonnor cautioned against making rushed decisions and encouraged a more thoughtful approach to evaluating a coach’s performance.
He advised Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko to find a balance between holding coaches accountable and being patient, emphasizing the need to support the coach’s vision for the team.
“Management is responsible for guiding the team and should have a long-term vision for where they want the team to be in the future. But for clubs like Hearts and Kotoko, fans are very results-oriented. If the team isn’t winning, there will be pressure,” Akonnor explained.
