Political representatives and leaders have been asked to exercise caution when speaking in public in order to advance national peace and stability, particularly ahead of the next general election.
Negative speech is dangerous for peace, harmony, and stability because it can incite conflicts and send the nation into disarray, according to the caller, the Very Rev. Dr. Kofi Amissah, Resident Minister of United Church Teshie.
Consequently, Rev. Dr. Amissah urged political players to show the public the same warmth and camaraderie that they share in private meetings rather than picking fights and stirring up disgruntled members of the public against opposing political parties.
“We require wise words; they must be truthful and nourishing, filling our ears with encouraging news to calm our hearts and thoughts.
“In order to prevent violence, they must constantly encourage citizens to live exemplary lives and foster peaceful coexistence,” the speaker stated.
Speaking on Sunday at the Mt. Olivet Methodist Church in Accra, he was part of the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG)-organized 2024 Bible Week Celebration’s Thanksgiving service.
