Over the next several days, the BBC will provide a special live feed of the Queen’s lying-in-state period for anyone who wishes to pay their respects but is unable to travel to London or queue.
The service will begin at 5 p.m. BST (9 a.m. PT) today on the BBC website homepage, iPlayer, and BBC Parliament, as people pay their respects to the Queen’s casket in Westminster Hall throughout the next several days.
According to accounts, the casket arrived in London from Scotland yesterday, and lineups had already formed, with an average wait time of 17 to 35 hours.
Some rail lines will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist lead passengers to the wait, while neighboring cafés will provide all-night service.
The BBC and ITV announced their plans for the funeral yesterday, which will run from 8 a.m. BST (12 a.m. PT) until 5 p.m. BST (9 a.m. PT) and is likely to be one of the most-watched UK TV broadcasts of all time.
The operation is massive, and media networks from all over the world have descended on London.
