Joshua Kimmich refuses to take the covid vaccine and has been trending on social media for that matter.

The German professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder or right-back for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the German national team has refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine and his reason is that he is ‘unsure about the lack of long term studies.’

On Friday, October 22, the football star was in the news after reports broke about his vaccination status. His action has questioned the trust people have in the vaccines.

And while addressing the media in the postgame hustle and bustle, Kimmich confirmed that he is not vaccinated, but insisted that he is following all protocols.

When asked why he was not vaccinated, Kimmich said he is unsure about the lack of long term studies and that he follows all protocols.

He said people shouldn’t say categorically that he won’t get vaccinated at all because it is very possible that he will get the vaccine in the future. He, however, noted that ‘everyone should make the decision for themselves.’

He told Kimmich told Sky: “Because I’m unsure about the lack of long term studies. I am, of course, aware of my responsibility, I follow all hygiene measures and get tested every two to three days — everyone should make the decision for themselves.”

“Nevertheless, I am neither a COVID denier nor an anti-vaxxer. I also don’t say categorically that I won’t get vaccinated at all. It is very possible that I will get the vaccine in the future,” he added.

Even though Kimmich has been committed to the #WeKickCorona initiative, recent development would certainly be a talking point in Germany over the next few days.
