Dr. Gideon Boako, the spokesperson for New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has challenged Ghanaian prophets who claim to be able to predict events to unveil the vice president’s running partner.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning program on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Dr. Boako humorously remarked that prophets who make such claims should wait for an event to occur before claiming to have prophesied it.
He challenged prophets to precisely forecast Bawumia’s running partner rather than waiting till later to indulge in such shenanigans.
“As for this one, the prophets will have to aid us… they like to wait for it to happen and then come out and declare that they predicted about it.
“As for this one, the prophets will have to help us… they rather wait for it to happen and then come out to say that they prophesied about it, but as for this one, they should say it before it happens,” he said, eliciting laughter from himself, the other panel members on the show, and the host, Kwame Sefa Kayi.
In support of Dr. Boako’s claim, the host branded such persons as deceptive.
With less than eight months till the general elections on December 7, Vice President Bawumia has failed to announce his running companion.
As the party awaits its running partner for the 2024 election, a strong argument is being made for the vice president to nominate an indigene of the Ashanti Region.
However, some opponents have argued that the criteria should be broadened outside the Ashanti Region to take into account other elements such as regional balance, party unity, and personality attributes.
Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Frema Akosua Osei-Opare, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and Bryan Acheampong, among others, have emerged as frontrunners in the battle for the NPP’s running mate position.
