Hiplife legend Okyeame Kwame has denied receiving payment to join the manifesto committee of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer.

On the New Patriotic Party’s Manifesto Committee for tourism, the arts, and culture, Okyeame Kwame is one of fifteen individuals named.

Other members include former Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Catherine Abelema Afeku, Dr. Ama Boafo-Arthur, Prof. Issahatu Adam, Claudia Lumor, the founder of the Glitz Style Awards, and actor Prince David Osei.

The others are Nana Yaw Manteaw, Yaa Pokua Baiden, Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu (KOKA), Festus Frimpong Gyebi, Eric Owusu Akreso, Dr. Ackah Kwame Nyameke, and Radia Adama Saani.

They are members of the National Film Authority’s (NFA) Executive Secretary Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante and the Ghana Tourism Authority’s (GTA) Chief Executive Officer Akwasi Agyemang’s subcommittee on tourism, arts, and culture.

However, Okyeame Kwame stated in a statement obtained by ghanaweekend.com that he is still impartial and can provide expert counsel to any political party in Ghana, even though he is a member of the subcommittee.

“I want to reassure my esteemed audience and stress that I am still apolitical and nonpartisan, just as I have been for my entire professional life. I have not received payment from H.E. The Vice President’s campaign team to serve on the committee for the manifesto on arts and tourism, nor have I received an official invitation to participate as a nonpartisan on my terms.

“Having said that, I would like to sincerely thank His Excellency the Vice President’s Campaign Team for considering my experience and intelligence,” he said with the utmost humility.

He went on, “In fact, I am sincerely and openly open to any political or ideological persuasion that may wish me to openly and sincerely lend my knowledge to develop this noble industry when it comes to contributing policy opinion towards the advancement of the Arts and Culture in Ghana, be it NPP, NDC, CPP, Independent or other.”

“For the past 26 years and counting, I continue to be the model professional that you have known. I have committed to serving Ghana to the best of my ability, with all of my heart and all of my strength, in all areas of my expertise. I’m still apolitical and #MadeInGhana4Life, so everyone is very welcome.
