Inusah Fuseini, a former minister of lands and natural resources, expressed dissatisfaction with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision statement, calling it a repetition of broken promises.
On Wednesday, February 7, the New Patriotic Party’s Flagbearer gave a speech to the public in which he outlined the policies he would like to see implemented if elected President.
Dr. Bawumia prioritized digitization and stated that he intended to use technology and the private sector to generate income, create long-term jobs, and set up structures that would propel Ghana into the contemporary global economy.
Two of his pledges were to align Ghana’s port fees with Togo’s in order to prevent goods from being smuggled, and to abolish the e-levy, which levies a 1.5% fee on all electronic and mobile money transactions exceeding GH¢100 per day.
The NPP presidential candidate, Mr. Fuseini, a former member of parliament for Tamale Central, claims that the government has made promises in the past that it has not been able to keep.
In an interview with The Big Issue on Saturday, February 10, Mr. Fuseini said that Dr. Bawumia “rehashed promises the NPP government had said to Ghanaians and were not fulfilled.”Bawumia’s speech left us feeling let down.
