Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has made a commitment to rebuild part of the Madina Market that was recently destroyed by fire. During a visit to the market, he assured the owners of shops that government will provide funding to support them in restoring their businesses.
Dr Bawumia also presented a sum of GHC200,000 to assist the victims of the fire outbreak. He emphasized the importance of having fire insurance to protect their items and urged them to hire qualified electricians for safety measures.
Additionally, the Vice President pledged to provide hostels for ‘Kayayei’ to accommodate them. He mentioned that hostels have already been constructed in Madina and Ashaiman, and called on market queens to collaborate with him in supporting these vulnerable groups.
The fire incident at the Madina market occurred on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Dr Bawumia’s visit and promises demonstrate the government’s commitment to assisting those affected by the tragedy and helping them rebuild their livelihoods.
