Bawumia misquotes Zachariah 4:1 during address at Owusu-Bempah’s church

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia spent Easter touring churches and celebrating with Christians.

One of the most notable visits he made was to the Accra headquarters of Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah, founder of Glorious Word Power Ministries International.

Bawumia had the honor of being prayed for while sitting in Owusu-Bempah’s chair, and the priest attested to his being a nice person with a pure heart.

Bawumia then offered a brief address to the congregation before leaving.

Days later, a small recording of Bawumia’s speech leaked on social media, with the vice president allegedly mentioning a scripture from the Holy Scriptures.

“If you look in the Book of Zachariah 4:1, it says, “It is not by might nor might, but by the spirit of the Lord Almighty,” he said to cheers.

Those who circulate it question whether the cited part and the text are aligned, implying that he jumbled up the verses.

Ghanafuo conducted two checks: first, if he made such statements, and second, what the scriptures indicated in Zachariah 4:1.

GhanaWeb’s study of the whole film on the church’s Facebook page revealed that the Vice President made the aforementioned words in an off-the-cuff moment.

Before then, the majority of the passages he cited were from a prepared speech he was delivering.
