Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana, has reaffirmed his unwavering opposition to activities associated with the LGBTQI+ community.

His spokesperson, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s stance on this issue has not wavered and is in line with the sentiments of the majority of Ghanaians.

In an interview on JoyNews’ AM Show, Mr. Aboagye highlighted that Dr. Bawumia’s position stems from his personal beliefs and a commitment to upholding Ghana’s societal and cultural values.

He made it clear that if Dr. Bawumia assumes the presidency in 2025, he will not support the legalization or promotion of LGBTQI+ activities.

This declaration by Dr. Bawumia comes after his public address to a gathering of Muslims in Kumasi, where he unequivocally rejected LGBTQ+ practices. His firm stance against LGBTQ+ activities aligns with the religious and societal values prevalent in Ghana.

Mr. Aboagye’s comments underscore the Vice President’s commitment to preserving traditional values and cultural norms in Ghana.

Dr. Bawumia’s stance on LGBTQ+ rights adds momentum to the ongoing debate in the country, reflecting the complex interplay between cultural, religious, and legal considerations.
