Snooker fans are in for a treat as six of the biggest names in the history of the sport are set to face off in the World Seniors Snooker 900 event. The second edition of this exciting tournament is being held at Goffs, Co Kildare, Ireland.
The players will be competing for the top prize, but as of now, there are no confirmed reports on the breakdown of the prize money. The format of the tournament is unique, with every match consisting of just a single frame, except for the final which is best-of-three.
Each frame has a maximum time limit of 15 minutes, and players have only 20 seconds for each shot. In case of a tie at the end of 15 minutes, a blue-ball shoot-out will determine the winner.
The six players are divided into two round-robin groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals. Group A includes Stephen Hendry, Dennis Taylor, and Fergal O’Brien, while Group B comprises Jimmy White, Ken Doherty, and Tony Knowles.
The action kicks off with some exciting matchups, including Hendry taking on O’Brien and White facing Knowles. The tournament moves quickly, with the group stages and the final all taking place on the same day.
Fans can catch all the action live on Channel 5. Stephen Hendry emerged victorious in the inaugural World Seniors Snooker 900 event in December 2023, beating Jimmy White in the final.
