Ghanaian musician, Barima Sidney, has come out to set the record straight regarding his hit song ‘Papa No’ which was released in 2020.
The song, which became popular amidst the trending term ‘Papa No’ on social media at the time, was not intended to harm or target former President John Mahama or his party, according to Sidney.
In a recent interview on Joy Prime, Barima Sidney explained that he was inspired to compose the song due to the widespread use of the term ‘Papa No’ on social media. However, some individuals later misinterpreted the song and associated it with the NDC flagbearer for their own political agenda.
Sidney went on to apologize to John Mahama if the song inadvertently contributed to his loss in the 2020 elections. He clarified that he did not specifically target anyone with the song and was not aware of its misuse by certain individuals for political purposes.
The ‘Papa No’ song by Barima Sidney gained immense popularity in 2020, but the musician wants to make it clear that his intentions were not political or malicious. He hopes that this clarification will help to clear up any misunderstandings surrounding the song and its association with the former president.
