One of the most successful figures in entertainment is American singer, actor, director, and producer Barbra Streisand. She is the first person in history to have won every award there is, including the National Endowment for the Arts, Peabody, Golden Globe, Cable Ace, Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Chaplin Award.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1942 to high school teacher Emanuel Streisand and singer Diana Kind  who later became a school secretary. When she was 15 months old, her father passed away.

She initially gained attention and a following in New York City’s nightclubs and off-Broadway theaters as a result of her distinctive and potent vocal ability. She made her Broadway debut in Harold Rome’s 1962 musical comedy “I Can Get It For You Wholesale,” for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress and won the New York Drama Critics Poll.
