Tragically, 93-year-old Barbara Walters, the first female co-host of the Today show and a well-known journalist, has joined her ancestors.

With Barbara Walters’ tragic passing, a chapter in American television journalism has come to an end. The 93-year-old founding member of “The View” and longtime anchor for ABC News passed away on December 30 at her home in New York.

The View, a hit television program, was established by the renowned journalist. Up until 2004, she had been employed by 20/20, where she had started her career. After some time away, she eventually made a comeback to the show and hosted it until 2014, when she decided to stand down. As host of ABC’s ABC Evening News, she made history.

According to The New York Times, the television host passed away at her Manhattan, New York, home while surrounded by family, as her publicist, Cindi Berger, disclosed in an interview. The reason for her death is uncertain.
