The long-awaited autopsy report on the late artiste Mohbad has failed to provide a definite cause of his death. The family’s lawyer, Wahab Shittu, revealed this during a press briefing at the coroner’s inquiry in Lagos State.
According to Shittu, the pathologist who conducted the autopsy stated that significant decomposition had occurred by the time the examination took place. This led to the conclusion that the cause of death could not be ascertained, leading to suspicions and uncertainty.
The pathologist also mentioned the possibility of reactions to certain drugs administered to Mohbad before his death, but could not confirm if these drugs were a direct cause of his demise.
As a result of these findings, the inquest has been postponed until June 11 to allow further questioning of forensic experts.
Mohbad, who passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, had his death surrounded by controversy and led to the arrest of Naira Marley, CEO of Marlian Music, and Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry.
The Lagos State Police Command had set up a 13-man special investigation team to probe the singer’s death, and the suspects were released on bail pending trial. The singer’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023, following his untimely passing.
